Research (Narrative): My Proposed Music Video Brief

I put together a 250 word brief of my proposed music video, in order to take to the artist, and see if we could proceed with my ideas, or if they wanted to add any of their own creative input. Here is the brief that I put together:

"After researching into the genre of music, and the audience we are targeting, I feel that a video that is heavily performance-based would be most suitable. After receiving results from a questionnaire I conducted, I discovered that our target audience prefers performance-based videos. I also found that they prefer videos shot at a location, as opposed to shot in a studio. Taking your brand image of “young” (easily satisfied by your evident youth), “energetic”, and “real” into account, I am thinking that we should use the location to represent your reality, as an artist. Perhaps we could shoot the video at a museum, or a gallery full of art, in order to portray the ideology that you are a “real artist”. In a more literal sense, we could show this by also shooting some footage of you performing at a live venue, in front of a real audience, to make you accessible with your target audience. We can satisfy the “energetic” element of your brand image, through the use of fast-paced editing, and your own physical performance in the video. This will also reflect your youth. This is my proposed brief for a music video for Colder On The Inside."

After showing So Called Friends my proposed music video brief, we set the wheels in motion as they agreed with my ideas. The drummer Matt's mother works as a gallery assistant at the Haworth Art Gallery, Accrington, and so was able to arrange for us to gain access to shoot there, one evening, after the gallery had closed to the public.
