What gender are you?
When handing out the questionnaires, I made sure that there was a 50/50 gender split. I did this so as to avoid the results appearing biased, due to the tastes of a specific gender.
What age are you?
I conducted the questionnaire in my college, which was useful, because the age group of the students match the age group that my musical artist is targeting, with their music.
What genre of music do you listen to the most?
This most popular genre, in terms of chart performance, is Pop music, but I wanted to find out what music my targeted age group listened to more specifically. The majority result was in fact Pop music, which I anticipated being the case, but the reassuring result of Rock and Indie music being almost as popular means that the genre of music that my artist produces is popular, and so there is definitely an audience out there for my product, and the artist that it will be promoting.
Do you watch music videos?
My reasoning behind asking this question was to make sure that the majority, if not all, of my results were from people who actually watch music videos, else they wouldn't be overly useful in influencing my ideas.
Are you inclined to watch a music video if you like the artist?
With the majority of my audience answering "yes" to this question, it has shown me that when creating my products, it is important to push the brand image of the artist, and really try to connect with the target audience, as if they feel a connection with the band, then they'll be more inclined to watch the music video, which will lead to more successful promotion of the music.
Do you prefer performance-based, or story-based, music videos?
This result shows that people within my target audience are more likely to watch my video again if it is performance-based. I will therefore avoid a narrative-based video, and create one that takes on a high-speed edit in order to spark interest out of a performance video.
Do you prefer music videos shot in a studio, or at a location?
This result shows that people within my target audience are more likely to enjoy a music video if it has been shot out of a studio, at a location. I will therefore be avoiding a studio shoot, and create a video that is performance-based, and is shot at a location that is suitable for the music, and artist.
Where do you mostly access music videos?
My results show that the most popular place for people to access music videos, these days, is on the Internet. More specifically, on YouTube. This means that my artist can upload the video to the Internet, at no cost, and still successfully reach their target audience. Their audience can also help to promote their music through the use of social-networking site Facebook.
