Research (Institution): Record Labels
In the music industry, there are major record labels, and independent record labels. The major labels are much more closely focused on taking minimal risks, and appealing to the masses of a mainstream audience. Independent labels, however, are more open to experimental bands, or those that would have more of a niche audience. My artist would therefore be much more likely to be signed to an independent record label, given their target audience, and style. And independent label will also be much more inclined to allow an artist to make their own decisions, treating them as actual talent, as opposed to a mere cog in a conglomerate machine. This compliments the realistic aspect of the band's brand, with them being real, classically trained, musicians, who actually produce their own music. Taking this into consideration, it would actually be less beneficial if the band were signed to a major label.
