Research (Institution): The Importance Of Branding In The Music Industry
Branding is of major importance within the music industry, as it allows an artist to associate their work with a particular experience, and represent what they stand for morally, and ideologically, to allow an audience to better relate to them. Essentially, branding is the artist's signature, metaphorically used to sign all of the products that they produce. Similar to stereotyping, branding allows for a rapid recognition of a particular artist, or their work. For example, if an artist has a successful brand image embedded throughout all of their work, an audience could immediately recognise the artist, and this is particularly useful when it comes to advertising, which is important, as after all, a music video production is primarily a promotional product.
