Research (Genre): Popularity Of The 'Post-Hardcore' Music Genre

The genre of music doesn't feature at all in The Official UK Top 40 Singles Chart, and so it is probably fair to say that it doesn't really have a massive mainstream audience listening to it. See here a screenshot of the Official UK Top 10:

Although there isn't a mainstream following of the music genre, there is definitely an audience for it, as there is a separate chart for it, elsewhere, which shows that there is an audience, who does listen to, and buy, music belonging to the Post-Hardcore genre, especially in the 16-25 year old age group. See the Post-Hardcore charts, lead by Distortion Radio, here:

So the genre doesn't have a mainstream following, it has more of a niche market, but the fans that do listen to this genre of music could be described as being "diehard" fans, and they really take their music seriously. Pop music may have a very mainstream following, but the majority of that audience merely listen to the music for recreational purposes, whereas with the Post-Hardcore genre, for some, it's their lifestyle. This allows for a lot more creativity than with the Pop genre, as a Post-Hardcore video should not only reflect the music, and the brand image of the artist; it should also work to form a connection between the audience and the artist.
